Biography
Dr Amit Maydeo is a world-renowned gastroenterologist and endoscopy expert known for his pioneering efforts on therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
He is the Chairman of Institute of Gastro Sciences at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai.

Therapeutic endoscopy, interventional ERCP, POEM, STER, ARMS, third-space endoscopy, endotherapy of chronic pancreatitis, GI bleeding and difficult CBD stones.
Education and training
Dr Amit Maydeo runs the Endoscopy Gurukul, where aspiring endoscopists from India and abroad are taught basic and advanced GI endoscopic procedures.
Experience
He has been visiting faculty for more than 100 endoscopy workshops worldwide and has conducted 20 international live endoscopy workshops in Mumbai over the past 25 years.
He has published over 150 papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and written chapters in seven textbooks on GI endoscopy and related topics. He serves on international editorial boards and is a co-editor of Endoscopy International Open.

Awards and recognition
In 2013, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri for his contributions to medicine and medical education.
He received the outstanding reviewer award from GIE for four consecutive years and was an award winner in the first World Cup of Endoscopy in Chicago.
